A Fathers heart

I read this Psalm while in Taicang, China just last week.

I will praise you, Lord, with all my heart;
before the "gods" I will sing your praise.
I will bow down toward your holy temple
and will praise your name
for your unfailing love and your faithfulness,
for you have so exalted your solemn decree
that it surpasses your fame.
When I called, you answered me;
you greatly emboldened me.
May all the kings of the earth praise you, Lord,
when they hear what you have decreed.
May they sing of the ways of the Lord,
for the glory of the Lord is great.
Though the Lord is exalted, he looks kindly on the lowly;
though lofty, he sees them from afar.

(Psalm 138:1-6 NIV)

This last verse strikingly reminds me of the father in Jesus' story of the lost son in Luke 15:11-32. Verse 20 reads:
"But while he (the once-wayward son) was still a long way off, his father saw him and was filled with compassion for him; he ran to his son, threw his arms around him and kissed him. (Luke 15:20b NIV)

These verses are tender hearted reminders of how our Father in Heaven has a heart like a loving earthly father who yearns for his sons (and daughters) and longs to bless them! And our Heavenly Father is so much more!

Read the story of the lost son again. It's as much a story of our Father. Get to know Him!

Are you a son or daughter, according to John 1:12? Check it out.
