Taicang, a fresh, new city in China, visited on a cold morning in March (2012)

Was back in Taicang last week, and I enjoyed it. Taicang has the feel of a new city. Being in the month of March, the temperature range was very pleasant, from 5 C to 13 C, a bit cold at night, but extremely nice for walking in the morning.

Thus was my hotel in Taicang, Four Points by Sheraton. I'm glad there is a Starwood Hotel in Taicang. Much more comfortable than a number of hotels I've stayed at within Shanghai.

Notice that there's not much other tall buildings beside the hotel lots of open spaces. That's what you'll see in Taicang, a lot of open spaces.

But that won't last for long. So many buildings are quickly coming up here and there, which means all the refreshing open space will soon be choked up.

All the wide and open roads, scantly traversed by cars, could become crowded in a few years.

But for now, the broad patches of sky and concrete are refreshing to see.

Taicang was designed to look good, just like a modern city.

It even seems some of the sidewalks are scarcely stepped on!

There are separate paths for cars, motorcycles and bicycles, and for walking.

And you see people employed to beautify the city.

The Taicang Library and the Taicang Museum, a convenient 10-minute walk from the Four Points Hotel.

Here are scenes from the museum.

Thank God for the opportunity. It was an enjoyable visit to Taicang!
