Mont Blanc Limited Edition Carlo Collodi Writers Edition 2011 an Awesome Buy

Considering a Limited Edition pen? Going a step further than a nice lacquer pen? The Carlo Collodi Limited Edition Writers Edition 2011 pen is an awesome choice.

It has a skeletonized, metal worked upper barrel that shows Pinocchio and the fairy tale characters, and a dark brown precious resin lower barrel.

The large inlaid Mont Blanc emblem on the Limited Edition pens are also a highlight for me, as the very subtle dome makes the mark very prominent.

The clip is fixed with a screw, symbolizing the moving joints of a marionette. I like this feature on the Alfred Dunhill pens, so I'm glad it is on this Limited Edition Mont Blanc. The bottom of the ballpoint pen is solid metal, making this a heavy and well balanced pen, and very comfortable to write with.

I was comparing different Limited Edition pens and I find that this Mont Blanc Carlo Collodi pen is an awesome buy. Aside from the elegant workmanship, I like it that Carlo Collodi presents a personal story of hope, in that he met with success in writing the unlikely story of a puppet that talked and wanted to become a real boy. The story itself is actually quite scary, as it talks of the many perils faced by a young boy with an appetite for adventure mixed with raw naivety, and how these can lead to many disasters.

The unusual tale of how Pinocchio's nose grew when he told a lie reminds me of the ten commandments from Exodus 20, where it says "You shall not give false testimony against your neighbor. (Exodus 20:16 NIV). In fact lying, though it might seem a trivial sin and oft times harmless, is considered by God as weighty as any other sin - and warrants eternal judgement and the second death. God's words, not mine - "But for the cowardly and unbelieving and abominable and murderers and immoral persons and sorcerers and idolaters and all liars, their part will be in the lake that burns with fire and brimstone, which is the second death." (Revelation 21:8 NASB)
The cat and the fox, who were inviting Pinocchio to have fun but in the process disobey instructions given to him and ultimately cause himself much harm, also reminds me that we have an enemy of our soul - "The thief comes only to steal and kill and destroy" (John 10:10a NASB). Another verse to remember is "Be of sober spirit, be on the alert. Your adversary, the devil, prowls around like a roaring lion, seeking someone to devour. (1 Peter 5:8 NASB)".

What are we to do? Well, first we are to receive Jesus Christ as Savior. "But as many as received Him, to them He gave the right to become children of God, even to those who believe in His name," (John 1:12 NASB); "For God so loved the world, that He gave His only begotten Son, that whoever believes in Him shall not perish, but have eternal life". (John 3:16 NASB)
Then we are to walk in righteousness and go after the great adventure that God has prepared for us. And we are to resist our enemy - "But resist him, firm in your faith, knowing that the same experiences of suffering are being accomplished by your brethren who are in the world." (1 Peter 5:8, 9 NASB)".

Back to the pen, the champagne gold color matches well with browns like this Louis Vuitton Damier messenger bag, and gold items like this International Watch Company IWC Portuguese Double Moon Perpetual Calendar in pink gold. A honey gold or red gold color would match very well, too!

Now the question - what's the price? And where do I buy. The price is about SGD 1050 in Singapore. At the airport, take out the 7% GST, and you can get it at about SGD 980. The bigger question though, is where CAN I buy it? After all, it's a Limited Edition, and stocks are running out fast as people do see this as great value.

As of last week, Marina Bay Sands Mont Blanc had 2 ballpoint pens. The Ngee Ann City Mont Blanc Boutique had none. Raffles City Shopping Centre had at least 1 ballpoint pen. The Mont Blanc at Rustan's, Makati in the Philippines had no ballpoint pen. And.... Mont Blanc KLIA at the Kuala Lumpur airport Duty Free had ten! Well, less one - the one I got. Having the ten pens allowed me to buy the Limited Edition number that I liked best - 9078 / 14600. The Mont Blanc at Pavilion in KL also had at least one, and the KL price matches the Singapore Duty Free price.

So if you want the Mont Blanc Carlo Collodi ballpoint pen... Better decide quickly how much you really want it, or you won't have to think anymore when they're all sold!

Happy writing!
