My wife wanted to have an after-dinner walk tonight, and having lived 3 years in Singapore, right beside Orchard Road, we wanted a place that was clean, bright, and interesting. I decided to go to Molito, across Ayala Town Center aka ATC in Alabang, beside Madrigal Avenue, and it was a great choice.
Molito at Alabang has blossomed beautifully. Where this once was a dark and empty area, it is now filled with bright lights, a wave of inviting new restaurants, and is a lovely place for an evening walk.
Of course it is a big plus that it is still February, and Manila is very noticeably cooler and the evening weather oh so pleasant from November, until the outdoor temperatures change as if a switch is flicked sometime in March.
Rows of restaurants at Molito offer an interesting and safe place to walk around in the evening. The grassy area and the colored fountain (photos above and to the right) used to be simply a gravel parking lot at the back of the Starbucks, one of the pioneers in the area.
Molito is a place to go when all you want to do is drive up to a restaurant and eat, no wading through a pool of mall shops and swimming through a sea of shoppers.
To name the restaurants that I saw, here is a list:
> Kuisine, a celebration of flavored (French)
> Designer Blooms Café
> Cravings (my wife and I used to really enjoy the Cravings along Katipunan in Quezon City, when we were dating about 22 years ago!!)
> Com Gusto, world cuisine by Buon Giorno. I believe this is the same Buon Giorno of The Cliffhouse fame along Tagaytay. We have eaten there countless times and savored their main courses and desserts.
> Uncle Cheffy, the best brick-oven BBQ & panizza
> Yushoken Ramen
> Hermanos taco shop, authentic Mexican food
> Just Thai
> Pump juice bar
> BBQ Chucken, Chicken & Beer
> TAI's Best
> Cafe Juanita
> Le Petit Cheri
> Buona Vita ristorante Italiano
> Omakase Japanese Cuisine
I should also mention the early settlers:
> Wooden Horse Steak House
> Bo's Coffee, one of the places I frequented for reliably good coffee and good internet wi-fi, when we didn't have a broadband home subscription (while based outside Manila)
> Grams Diner
And of course the pioneers to the Molito area:
> Starbucks coffee, and
> Pancake House.
As a walking venue, you'd need to walk around the resto blocks a couple of times. And if you live in e area, there's a big chance you'll see some good friends and have a nice chat outdoors.
If you've tried any of the restaurants above, let me know what you think. Which resto is good? What dish would you recommend? Which one has great service?
Enjoy the walks and the dining!
