I have an affinity for the U.S.. I have worked with American Multinational Companies for more than 25 years, greatly benefiting myself and my family. Through my work, I've been able to travel on business or vacation to many of the beautiful spots in the Philippines, and to most countries in ASEAN and Asia Pacific, including Australia, and many trips to Japan, Thailand and China, and even living in Singapore for three-plus years, traveling to Malaysia every month during that time.
I've been to the U.S. on many occasions, and have toured several countries in Europe with my wife, and have visited Argentina and even Antarctica - to King George Island, Paradise Island, Deception Island, and the Antarctic mainland at Brown Bluff.
Statue of George Washington in front of Federal Hall National Memorial. Washington took the oath as the first President of the United States of America with his hand on the Bible, recognizing God as Sovereign. Photo from Wikipedia, which also shows a photo of the Bible used by Washington in his inaugural oath, and a brass relief of Washington kneeling in prayer.
My daughter and son graduated high school from the prestigious Singapore American School. My Dad loved the U.S.. I have a brother and his family in the U.S, plus a number of other relatives. And I personally know American missionaries who have lived thirty-plus years in the Philippines, raising their families here, and whose lives are now tightly entwined with the Philippines, and to whom I feel a debt of gratitude. So yes, I admire and am grateful to God for the U.S., and I am not a doomsayer for it.

However in reading the book The Harbinger, I am concerned for the future of the United States of America. And especially so because I read this after the book Implosion by Joel Rosenberg, which goes along a parallel theme. This latter, I find more "heavy" and disconcerting.
But is it possible the contents of The Harbinger, which I highly recommend, are true when it points to the warnings and judgements on America? The historical information cited are impressive, the facts revealed and how they match with dates and prophecy, uncanny.
Could 9/11 have been a warning and a judgement straight from God to the U.S.? After reading The Harbinger, it is quite apparent that it was. Yes, it was initiated by terrorists from Al Qaeda. But just as God used the Chaldeans, the ancient Babylonians to execute his will and wake up ancient Israel (as we can read in Habakkuk 1), so God could have used terrorists of this day. But has America woken up and drawn closer to God, returned to their roots and foundation in God? As we would surmise from current U.S. news, the answer is no.
The Harbinger: The Ancient Mystery that Holds the Secret of America's Future
Publisher's Description
Is it possible...
That there exists an ancient mystery that holds the secret of America's future?
That this mystery lies behind everything from 9/11 to the collapse of the global economy?
That ancient harbingers of judgment are now manifesting in America?
That God is sending America a prophetic message of what is yet to come?
Before its end as a nation, there appeared in ancient Israel nine specific warnings and omens of national destruction – These same nine Harbingers are now manifesting in America with profound ramifications for America’s future and end-time prophecy.
Hidden in an ancient biblical prophecy from Isaiah, the mysteries revealed in The Harbinger are so precise that they foretell recent American events down to the exact days… the 3,000-year-old mystery that revealed the exact date of the stock market collapse of 2008… the ancient prophecy that was proclaimed from the floor of the US Senate and then came true…and more. The revelations are so specific that even the most hardened skeptic will find it hard to put down. Though it sounds like the plot of a Hollywood thriller – IT’S REAL.
And why would I say this? Well, here are some indicators. Abortion is supported by the U.S. Democratic Party, whereas God's sixth commandment is "You shall not murder.". The current U.S. President supports gay rights and gay marriage, while the Bible says homosexuality is a sin - Or do you not know that the unrighteous will not inherit the kingdom of God? Do not be deceived; neither fornicators, nor idolaters, nor adulterers, nor effeminate, nor homosexuals, nor thieves, nor the covetous, nor drunkards, nor revilers, nor swindlers, will inherit the kingdom of God. (1 Corinthians 6:9, 10 NASB)
During the inauguration of George Washington as the first President of the United States, the whole nation was enjoined to pray and dedicate the country to Almighty God. Today, people are not allowed to pray in public schools. The renowned institutions for learning like Yale University and Harvard University, founded on Christian learning and helping to train and send out clergy and missionaries, today can scarcely be called Christian, and would be among those fiercely teaching the theoretical sciences of evolution, not recognizing how a naturalistic (i.e. refusal to recognize God) worldview affects interpretation of data, and how evolution is inconsistent with operational sciences.

In contrast, God asks us to pray about everything [Be anxious for nothing, but in everything by prayer and supplication with thanksgiving let your requests be made known to God. (Philippians 4:6 NASB)], pray at all times [pray without ceasing; (1 Thessalonians 5:17 NASB)], and to keep and meditate on God's Word, including Genesis and His revelation on creation [This book of the law shall not depart from your mouth, but you shall meditate on it day and night, so that you may be careful to do according to all that is written in it; for then you will make your way prosperous, and then you will have success. (Joshua 1:8 NASB)].
These are just some national examples. Sadly, many of the downward changes are initiated by those who claim to have America's best interest at heart. Now if these upset you, please note that I am merely reflecting on current events and quoting from the Bible. If you went to a doctor who tested you and diagnosed you with a potentially fatal but curable disease, would you walk out on the doctor upset or incredulous, incensed at the doctor and the instrument? Or would you be curious, maybe humble, and learn more about it, eager to get healed? Well, the Bible offers more than even just temporal well-being, but the permanent options of heaven or hell. Read more about God's way to heaven.

Joshua 1:8 is a powerful verse, and it applies to each one personally, as well as to nations, collectively - Keeping and doing according to God's Word brings success.
