The annual Great Singapore Sale is winding down, and exceptionally good prices on both luxury and popular brands will soon be a lost memory. But there is still time!
Prada went on GSS mode, and my wife got a great deal from Prada for a third year in a row. This time it was a beautiful handbag in their classic black nylon with leather highlights and gold-toned hardware. She likes this bag because of the ample size and lightweight design and material, as compared for example to her Miu Miu full leather bag with the signature design folds. What makes this a truly great deal is that the bag was offered at 40% off! I was previously offering to buy her this type of Prada bag at the regular price, so when we saw this bag this GSS 2013, we bought it immediately.
When Prada goes on GSS mode, the majority of their bags fly off the shelf, quite literally. They don't stay for long, as the best models get sold out in one or two days.
Gucci is a brand that I have enjoyed buying from every GSS. They can go on up to 70% off an a few choice items, but same as Prada sale items, these have a very short shelf display life as people grab them when available. For Gucci though, since they are generous on the products they put on sale, you typically have more choices on items "left behind" that are about 30% off. Still a great deal, and you'd be happy you had the opportunity to buy them.
This GSS I got myself Gucci sunglasses at 30% off from Changi terminal 2, and I'm really happy with it. It's a change from my string of Oakley and Rudy Project sun glasses, and are more stylish than sporty, yet offer great functionality. I'm also enjoying the graduated shades of the lenses with higher density at the top, which provides good clarity in moderate lighting and adequate protection in very bright outdoors.
Plus, they have an innovative new case that flattens like a leather wallet when you're using the sunglasses. So in this photo from Changi airport, what I'm holding is not a travel wallet but the flattened Gucci sunglasses case.
If you are a GSS veteran, you know that not all brands go on sale at the same time, but rather they come in waves. So being at the right place at the right time is pivotal. It will spell the difference on whether you get to partake of the great deals, or not. And when you do catch the products you want when offered at great prices, the question is whether you are ready to buy them - if you're good and decided and "sold" on them, or not.
Don't miss out on the best deal.
In the Bible, we read Jesus' words "For what will it profit a man if he gains the whole world and forfeits his soul? Or what will a man give in exchange for his soul?" (Matthew 16:26 NASB)
He also said "Do not store up for yourselves treasures on earth, where moth and rust destroy, and where thieves break in and steal. But store up for yourselves treasures in heaven, where neither moth nor rust destroys, and where thieves do not break in or steal; for where your treasure is, there your heart will be also." (Matthew 6:19-21 NASB)
Indeed, any of the things we can buy in the GSS will perish! We cannot bring them with us when we die!
Do you know what God called a successful businessman who was intent (only) in acquiring more and more? Jesus told the story in Luke 12:16, and ended the story with this: “But God said to him, ‘Foolish man! Tonight your life will be taken from you. So who will get those things you have prepared for yourself?’ “This is how it will be for those who store up things for themselves and are not rich toward God.” (Luke 12:20, 21 NCV)
So don't miss out on the best offer of all time!
“God loved the world so much that he gave his one and only Son so that whoever believes in him may not be lost, but have eternal life." (John 3:16 NCV)
But to all who did accept him and believe in him he gave the right to become children of God. (John 1:12 NCV)
It's the best deal offered to everyone, without prerequisite, needing the simplest yet most difficult task of belief and acceptance, while it promises the greatest rescue and reward - a second birth and eternal life, relationship and fellowship with God. But just like the GSS, this is on a limited time offer. Once you're dead, there is no going back and making the decision [Just as people are destined to die once, and after that to face judgment, (Hebrews 9:27 NIV)]. So make the choice today! Then start reading your Bible daily, pray to God directly, obey through the power of the Holy Spirit, find a Bible-believing church where Jesus is preached and the Bible is taught and held in honor, and fellowship with other believers.
Other GSS tips:
If you're waiting for a Louis Vuitton sale, be advised that they do not participate in the GSS. The only time I got a special deal on LV was in a promo of Duty Free at the Korea airport. So if you're in for LV, just decide then buy it anytime. Doesn't have to be in GSS.
Another great buy - the Bose Quiet Comfort 3 On-Ear headphones. It's available at about SGD 150 off the regular price, and it's an improved version. I've had 3 noise-canceling headphones, I have Bose on-ear headphones and earphones, and have owned a wide range of brands. I still find Bose to be one of the best.
