Today I got two delectable, savory news from Leica! The first is an email on the latest Leica M launch. New offerings from Leica are always interesting, and the new Leica M is particularly exciting. Leica has been giving photographers an edge for 100 years, and it's the 60th anniversary of the M-system, so it's a fitting time for the newest launch.
But what makes this launch even more appetizing, something you can almost feel - is that you will have the chance to actually hold and try out the new camera! A test drive, in fact. Something of a norm for cars (even for BMWs, on special occasions), but new to me for luxury cameras!
I received the mailer as a Leica owner, but I'm guessing this test drive will be available to a wider audience. So here's the link to the test drive invitation you need to bring to a selected dealer.
And here are the selected Leica dealer locations in ASEAN and North Asia (China, Japan, Korea). Note that there are 2 shops in Malaysia and 3 in Singapore.

The 2nd bit of good news is that a new and first Leica store is opening in the Philippines, and it will be located at the Greenbelt 5, Basement 1 level. This location is a great choice as Greenbelt 5 offers access to many luxury brands and provides a classy shopping experience.
I have frequented the Leica boutique at the Raffles Hotel Shopping Arcade in Singapore, as well as visited Leica shops in Ion Mall, Singapore and at Starhill Gallery in Kuala Lumpur. I've always found it a treat, with the display of beautifully engineered and expertly crafted cameras and lenses - current models, a splash of rare limited editions, and sometimes some vintage cameras, many priced at more than a few tens of thousands of dollars! The display of striking, signature Leica photographs are also a treat to see. And quite pleasantly, the Leica shop people have consistently been a friendly bunch. And so I look forward to the opening of this store in Manila.
