The Gucci Half Moon backpack is now available in classic Gucci canvas, and this is a welcome addition for Gucci lovers and newcomers. Previously available only in the embossed Gucci full leather material with a strong, rubber-feel, and heavy black or intense blue color, this new version for 2015 gives a lighter, more relaxed feel. The Gucci canvas in brown color with brown leather trim is classic for Gucci and makes for a noticeable and distinctive luxury bag, unmistakable even at a distance
The bag is designed with a large zippered top compartment, and a small zippered front pocket. The interior is lined with plain, cream-coloured natural canvas, which is soft and light. This contributes to an overall soft bag as compared, for example to another recently-launched Gucci backpack that is more stiff and holds its shape more, but won't flatten as easily to be more compact when the pack is not full. The interior is quite simple with few pockets for organising urban gear, but this bag is very adequate for the city and gives you an upscale look.
The top handle is strengthened by a full leather trim for the hands and is amply sized. The shoulder straps are fabric with foam and they give a strong feel. The small buckles for adjusting the straps are in silver color with a tiny Gucci brand and they look good with the leather accents on the straps. Gucci provides a one-year warranty on their bags so in case of any problems with the stitching or the materials (except when due to wear), they will handle repairs free of charge.
The bottom and the back of this pack are made of the same classic Gucci canvas, which is pleasing from a branding standpoint. I have yet to see a luxury backpack a foam or air mesh back that is branded instead of plain. Even Louie Vuitton doesn't have that, but I will give credit to the first pack I see with such a feature.
