Montblanc Bohème Doué Moongarden Rollerball Pen, the best among the current offerings

The Montblanc Bohème Doué Moongarden Rollerball Pen is one of the newest pens on offer by Mont Blanc, and in my opinion is the freshest and most beautiful among the current available set.

Here is the official Mont Blanc description of the pen:

Montblanc Bohème Doué Moongarden Rollerball Pen

Bohème Doué Moongarden celebrates Montblanc’s exceptional attention to precision work. Inspired by the Bohème Moongarden watch collection, the pattern builds on the movement of tree leaves at full moon. Featuring delicately lacquered red gold-coloured leaves on a grey-toned precious metal surface, the pen is complemented by a handcrafted retractable gold nib. A true jewel in Montblanc writing culture.

========

I have to say that the Marketing copy is really good, with carefully selected, choice words and descriptors, combined to create word pictures that tug on the emotions.

But indeed having held and studied the pen over several visits to Mont Blanc boutiques, I'm convinced this is one of the best pens currently available. And I'm not saying this out if a vacuum as I regularly use a variety of Mont Blanc pens including the Thomas Mann Writers Edition  the Carlo Collodi Writers Edition, and the Starwalker Red Gold Metal pen among others. What I find unique about this new Bohème pen is the red gold coloured leaves against a flannel grey barrel. And indeed on an early morning walk I would often see a red sun low on the horizon with a grey sky around and almost masking it, while feeling a cool and still fresh breeze. Later in the morning as this serene scene gets replace by a bright blue sky and a blazing tropical sun that is like the cognac-coloured gemstone, the imagery becomes a memory that the Montblanc Bohème Doué Moongarden pen can bring to light. And sometimes, the thing that can remind you of a memory, can become as precious as the memory itself.

I like the choice of materials. Lacquered pens are to me more valuable than precious resin pens, and the pricing of pens agree with this sentiment. The choice of red gold gives added warmth to the design. And the proportions of the Bohème Rollerball, with or without the cap screwed onto the end, are just right. Overall, this pen is a fine product of design artistry and precision engineering. And here once more people have to recognise that discerning ones pay for beauty and aesthetics. It's not all about design functionality and efficiency. But only as God provides and of course with humility, otherwise when needed we can stay with the $5 pens available at the bookstore.

Another reason I find this pen so interesting is that it speaks of God and His Majesty and creation and plan. The leaves are not the same, each is uniquely shaped and positioned to create the pleasing overall look.
In the same way for Christians, we who are in Christ are all different, yet we complement each other with our gifts.
"Now as we have many parts in one body, and all the parts do not have the same function, in the same way we who are many are one body in Christ and individually members of one another. According to the grace given to us, we have different gifts...". Romans 12:4-6a.

Also, the leaves may look to be randomly arranged, but they were all placed carefully in their positions by design such that they could not be anywhere else. In the same way the stars in the heavens may look randomly placed to the untrained observer, but in reality even in thee complex movements they retain their locations like high precision timepieces, literally as cosmic watch complications! Mind boggling but true.

And so to hold a fine writing instrument that speaks of God's glory, if you can rightly purchase it without burden, would be a privilege indeed!

Price in Singapore boutiques is SGD 1,120, which is competitive with the published price on the Mont Blanc website.
