Capitol Piazza - Newest place to dine, shop and chill in SG

I recently visited the Capitol Piazza, after some resistance of "why do I have to go there?". After all, I have my favourite places to go already. But I was assured the visit would be good, and wow, was I pleasantly surprised!

The Capitol Piazza main facade, on street level. The spacious layout and greenery give a previous of the generous ambiance inside. You can easily be dropped off here by car or taxi. But don't think this is the only access! There is a wonderfully convenient underground passage from City Hall MRT station!

Capitol Piazza is very elegant. And right now, somewhat undiscovered by locals and visitors. So if you want to be away from the frenetic Singapore crowds, this is a must-visit place.

And it's convenient. You can easily go to Capitol Piazza via a new underground passage directly from the City Hall MRT station, so no need to get to street level and away from the air-conditioning! But don't miss the facade. Step out to get a glimpse of the retroesque scene, which brings good feelings of nostalgia.

Lots of fashion stores for unique clothing brands, art galleries, plus some of the usual mall shops.

I found this Moleskine "boutique" store interesting. It houses the biggest collection of Moleskine products I've seen - from price cases, to lather and fabric wallets, passport cases, travel organisers, bags, pen cases, highlighters, sharpeners, etc.

And of course they have their extensive range of all kinds of premium notebooks. If you're not familiar with Moleskine notebooks, you've got to check these out. Yes they are pricey, but hey if you get to start writing again, the investment is well worth it what do you write about? Personal stories, experiences, long range plans, visions, prayer requests, your gratitude for answered prayers to remind you of God's faithfulness when troubles come in the future, Bible memory verses, things you learn about God and Jesus Christ as you study the Bible, asset lists, your holographic will, why... there are so much you can write about!

Among the restaurants at the mall side, I found Palette quite unique. The concept is that of a luxury-style hawker center and foodcourt in a sit-down restaurant. You'll find much of your favourite fare, and for foreigners and visitors you can taste what all locals in Singapore love, and yet feel like you're inside a hotel lobby, of course being fresh and fully air conditioned, and you're not elbow to elbow with anyone. We ate here as a family and found the food and the experience very pleasant. Expect to pay about double or more versus a food court, but the superiority in service and ambiance cannot be compared!
If you go to the top floor of the mall side, you'll find an inviting but expensive Swiss chocolate truffle shop that I should try next time, and there is also a nice coffee and dessert place.

At the Cinema side, there are so many restaurants and dessert venues to choose from. My family and I chose to try the Kaiserhouse, an Austrian restaurant, and we had a great time (only my wife is in the photo).

Kaiserhouse is now my new Best Place for Quiet Coffee in town, in Singapore! Imagine being away from the noisy crowds in Starbucks Raffles City Shopping Centre, where you can hardly find a seat! You can have coffee or hot chocolate and a pastry for under $10! Or coffee and a European cake slice for under $15!
But aside from Kaiserhouse, the Capitol Piazza cinema side give you lots of options! I'll surely try the others as well.

That's it for now.
Have fun going around Singapore!
Tell us what other restaurants you've tried and what you liked about them!

Cheers!
