Up for some luxury shopping? Paris is a great place with special prices on many premium brands.
For easy access to displays of Prada, Gucci, Salvatore Ferragamo, Rimowa, Coach and Longchamp, go to Printemps at the Lovre museum. In most other places in Paris you'd need to walk quite a distance to get to separate boutiques, but at the Louve they are all together. A number of shops are manned by Chinese, seeking to capture the Asian tourists. In the photo above you see a friendly Asian sales lady posing for me with 2 medium sized Rimowa luggages.

The medium Salsa de luxe sells for Euro 545, which at the current exchange rate and with a 12% tax rebate, comes out to SGD 720. This is more than a 30% discount when compared to prices for the same item in Singapore or Malaysia! A great deal!
The Rimowa all aluminium medium check-in luggage retails for Euro 750, which at the current exchange rate and the 12% tax rebate comes out to SGD 990. This is again a great deal. At this price, you can only get a Salsa in Singapore or Malaysia, not this premium all aluminium model. These are really great deals.
I got a new Rimowa Salsa medium size in Matte Black at a great value of €489. The bag is sleek and ideal for my travels. This one was available at the Galeries Lafayette, another great place to shop for luxury brands. There are actually more models and sizes for various name brands here. They also had an all aluminum Rimowa at €589 for a medium size, as well as the more expensive all aluminum models.
The new Gucci signature canvas backpack with black leather trim and supple dark Ivory-coloured suede lining goes for about Euro 900. The back is made of breathable mesh cushioned material and the bottom is now black canvas. These improved design elements make this men's backpack more functional and desirable. There is also a new full leather, all black version of this Gucci backpack, not yet seen in Singapore! Very beautiful and sleek. Ideal for weekdays and a commanding yet discreet presence.
My wife spotted Prada and Longchamp ladies bags at about half the prices in Singapore. And I saw beautiful Men's Prada belts I have not seen in Singapore, at very competitive prices among men's belts.
Here is a photo at the Louvre Museum from my current trip to Paris. Another advantage of purchasing your luxury items at Printemps or at the Galeries Lafayette is that you can instantly request your tax rebate, whether in cash or as credit back to your card, so you don't need to do it at the airport, where you risk forgetting it or being too busy you forego it and this lose precious monies you could spend more wisely elsewhere.
Paris is a beautiful destination, and being able to do a bit of shopping on the side is a huge blessing!
