INSIGHT is a newly opened exhibit at the Raffles Hotel in Singapore that features 3D photographs of monuments and historical places.
The images show you scenes of Singapore of old, viewed as if you were there because of the impressive 3D effects using the provided 3D glasses. It is free and open to the public, and is located at the ground floor of the Raffles Hotel arcade where the Louie Vuitton boutique used to be.
If you are at the arcade or the Raffles City Shopping Centre or nearby, it's worth a quick visit. Which is what I did and took some photos for fun.
There also a big matte print of the Raffles Hotel facade which looks quite realistic when photographed, as if you took a photo of the hotel yourself, with the sky and shadows and lighting looking "perfect" so it's like a beautifully timed shot.
Again I had fun with this photo, and took some shots of myself. (This is not part of INSIGHT, but I found it a nice side feature.)
To get a nice shot like this, you'd need to be standing in the middle of Beach Road, causing quite a commotion with traffic, and sweating under the Singapore sun trying to get the lighting just right. Here I was in an airconditioned gallery leisurely taking this photo!
It's nice to have this temporary museum at the Raffles Hotel, though I still miss the quaint historical photos and artifacts from the original Raffles Hotel museum. I hope that opens again someday.
