Missing Paris while in Singapore? Have a macaron from Ladurée or a cup of chocolate from Angelin

In Singapore and feeling a bit nostalgic from your Paris trip? Not a problem! Have a macaron or two from Ladurée in Ion, or a cup of thick, hot chocolate from Angelina in Capitol Piazza.

In Paris, while walking along Champs-Élysées, you should take the chance for a breather ad a sweets break at Ladurée and sample some of their delicious macarons. And while visiting famous museums and galleries in Paris, you would have undoubtedly spotted Angelinas, which is a great place for pastries and their famous thick hot chocolate.

So if you're in Singapore and missing these, or just want to have some authentic flavours from Paris, visit these two shops.

The Angelina's shop is at the ground floor of Capitol Piazza in Singapore. It's nice to know they are around when you want a tasty treat.

A cup of Angelina's hot chocolate might remind you somewhat of a cup from Mary Grace in Manila. But of course the flavours are somewhat different. Expect to pay 3x more, but hey - this is Singapore, or maybe Paris!

Filipino hot chocolate trivia.
Ever wonder what tsokolate-eh and tsokolate-ah mean or where the terms came from? In some Spanish restaurants you would still see these names used. Or if you take a Taal Spanish Heritage Tour which is a short drive from Manila, you will have an afternoon "tea time" snack or merienda of suman or rice cooked with with some coconut milk and with sweet caramelised coconut sauce, paired with a cup of tsokolate-eh.

Of course "tsokolate" is a Filipinized version of the word choloate and was popularised during the Spanish period in the Philippines.
Tsokolate-eh was the short version for "espesyal" or special, and was served to dignitaries and prominent guests of a household.
Tsokolate-ah was a code name for "de agua", whispered to the servants ears, to add water to the hot chocolate for a watered down version, served to the common guests.

Well, that's history for you. Today, you can get your tsokolate-eh anywhere and anytime. And now you can get a special cup of tsokolate-eh from Angelina's in Singapore.
