Just seen over the weekend - new OBike, a convenient and low cost cycling option while at the East Coast Park!
The bikes are nice and classy, sturdy, and good for men and ladies. These bikes are good for a casual and enjoyable stay at the East Coast Park, allowing for a scenic ride. There are no gears so nothing to fear or fidget for those not used to cycling, and this is not an issue with the long and very flat cycling paths of the East Coast Park.
What's new about the bike is that it was just parked at a bike slot. You rent it by accessing an OBike App available on theApple App Store and Google Play. What's great is that it's just $1 for 30 minutes, and you can park it anywhere at designated bike slots, and then resume your walk or go for a meal and explore more of the East Coast Park.
Here is how the bike lock looks.
And here is the QR code that you scan.
The concept reminds me of rental bikes available around Paris, that you can take and commute to places in, then park anywhere at designated bike parking slots. Very convenient, doesn't cost much, and good for the health! Especially nice at the touristy areas with cobblestone paths and where cars don't zoom by. But they're generally available around Paris as a regular commute.
If you've tried one of these bikes in SG, please post a comment and let us know what you think.
That's it for now.
Happy cycling!
