Go shopping for Louis Vuitton in Germany! Wait, don't I mean France? After all, this is a Paris brand of luxury leather goods, men's and ladies bags and wear. What I was very glad to learn from the Louis Vuitton boutiques in Frankfurt and Dusseldorf s that there is now uniform pricing throughout Europe since about 2015 or 2016, so I don't have to be in Paris to enjoy the best prices, and that meant I could buy freely in Germany!
I was looking for the men's Louis Vuitton District medium size bag in Damier Graphite or the Monogram Eclipse canvas. The selling price in Singapore is SGD 2140, or $2240 for the seasonal color with the blue highlights available in 2017.
The new Distirct is an improvement over the previous model with the addition of a stiffer bottom that keeps the bag shape better.
The leather accents are also elegant as well as functional as they provide a strong and secure fastening for the straps.
Scrutiny of the seasonal color and the classic District will reveal that the bag straps are different, aside from the obvious 2-tone blue&Ebla know color. The seasonal version has a softer strap which is nice, but I prefer the firmer and stronger feel of the classic bag.
The Louis Vuitton highlights in front are silver or nickel colors on the classic, and painted blue on the seasonal color. I was wondering if maybe the color was anodized and hard wearing, but the lady at Louis Vuitton said the blue buckles can get scratched over time, so I guess they are likely painted. This was another reason I opted for for the classic bag.
The price in Germany comes out about 25% lower versus Singapore when you include tax rebates. Quite a good deal.
So if you have the opportunity to buy and you're in Germany, as God blesses, go ahead and get the Louis Vuitton you've wanted. Then thank God for the blessing!
PS. Tip - Remember that shops close by 7pm in Germany. Shop early! Also, shops are closed on Sundays. Get your shopping done by Saturday!
