Cole Haan 3 ZeroGrand at SGD459 Worth It?

The latest Cole Haan 3 ZEROGRAND Wingtip Oxfords are selling at S$459. Should you buy the pair?

The latest offering from Cole Haan are arguably the most formal while also being the most comfortable full leather shoes in the market. At the price, I was wondering if it was really worth it. Was it comfortable enough? Did the look justify the price?
First let me say that there are two variations and the prices differ significantly.

The model with the white sole has a full leather midsole.

This makes it more interesting, but the price also hikes up to a whopping $599! The one with the dark sole has a black man-made midsole, and what I like about it is that the outsoles are not black but a deep brown color.

Now many of the newer Cole Haan shoes have dark outsoles, and I appreciate this change from my many models with white or light bottoms. Here is a range of the 3 ZEROGRAND, the ZEROGRAND 2.0, and the ZEROGRAND. All are with dark outsoles.

How do I compare the three? The ZEROGRAND is for everyday smart casual. The 2.0 is somewhat for more formal events and feels like it is a mid- or slightly higher cut, while the 3 ZEROGRAND is definitely for formal and stylish occasions, and is sleekest of the three. All work well as daily office wear, whichever dress code fits your office. All match well with a business or gala event suit, but again the latest model is particularly better.

Now here is a Cole Haan Jefferson Grand Cap Oxford along with a ZEROGRAND 2.0 in black suede, and a ZEROGRAND in British Tan with a light ivory sole. The advantage of the 3 ZEROGRAND is that it is very light to carry in your luggage compared to the formal Cole Haans, and is also  very comfortable for long treks in the international airports of which Changi is a beautiful example.

Back to the price.. should you get it? If you are a VIP customer and can access a special price, go for it! If you can purchase and are convinced you are still being a good steward, go for it! After all, these full premium leather shoes are still better value than LV or Bally or Ferragamo shoes, and more classic in styling while still being edgy and modern, and super comfortable!

That’s it from my side for now!
Keep on walking!

PS - Protect your shoe investments with these shoe horns or shoe formers. They will keep your shoes looking good and feeling new. I don’t like it when the leather gets wrinkled. Both the look and also the feel suffer. No need to buy very expensive ones. All my shoes are fitted with these from Daiso, and they are fully adequate. I like the feel of the wood shoe horns as they let the leather breath, and have that warm touch to them.
