Balinsasayaw, Quaint Resto at Silang Cavite

Looking for a good Filipino restaurant along Aguinaldo hiway, going to or from Tagaytay? Tired from traffic along the Tagaytay volcano view ridge? Go to BalinsasayawTheir motif is small nipa huts or “‘bahay kubo”s in a very homey Philippine province setting.

They have many huts in garden settings, reminding me of the popular children’s song “bahay kubo, kahit munti...”.

There are also “Japanese style” huts where you can sit on the floor with large pillows and the table is lower.

They serve favorite Philippine dishes like tuna belly, and great bulalo beef soup, which is re-energizing for an afternoon drive.

The tortang talong or eggplant omelette with no pork is cooked with spring onions and is new version for me, and very delicious. It’s a great place for good food, at very friendly prices! Top off your meal with barako coffee of Philippine grown coffee with muscovado brown sugar

And maybe halo-halo (shaved ice with many sweetened beans and fruit) or turon (fried banana with langka or jackfruit in a crispy wrap) with ice cream (shown). So good!

Each of the huts is fully covered with a net that keeps the hut cool and breezy. The benches are big enough to have a short nap after your meal!

That’s it for now! Enjoy the many great places around Metro Manila and nearby destinations!
